A few shots from some of our recent work.

People’s taxes became one of the many issues created by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Wehrly Group, a tax and investment company, came to us with a need to get information out to their clients and the general public in a simple manner. With the CARES Act released only days prior, the onus was to disseminate information quickly and clearly. Our idea was to conduct a free webinar [shown below] discussing the important aspects of the legislation.

We created a plan of action that would allow the company to reach their clients, as well as many in the Greater Houston area, to let them know about the webinar. People had questions during this time and it was imperative to get them answers quickly and efficiently.

We chose Facebook Live as the webinar platform; but before launching the webinar, we needed to create a sense of excitement around the event. So we created a quick 45-second commercial.

During the video shoot, we conducted a photo shoot so that we could use the imagery for advertising purposes.

We utilized the photos for the Facebook Event and the Facebook Ads we created. The Ads were built with A/B testing.

We created a Facebook Audience based on their target demographic. The Ads and the Facebook Boost of the commercial were centered around the specified Audience.

The day of the event, we set up the location for the webinar shoot. Conducted simple lighting to give the best look and feel for the video.

We shot the Facebook Live webinar on an iPhone along with a simple audio connector for better sound quality. We encouraged the owners and employees to share the event once it went live. The webinar lasted almost 20 minutes and was truly successful.

By the end of the week, we had more than 4,200 views on the Facebook Live Webinar.

Events like these are very important for businesses to conduct. It provides their clients and potential clients with an opportunity to interact directly with the company and owners. It also enables businesses to show that they care about their community and their clients, whether it is an important subject, like the inner workings of a stimulus bill, or not.

Putting together an event like this is important, but what is just as important is taking the necessary measures to ensure as many people as possible show up to the event.

EMAIL CAMPAIGN RESULTS

Whether you’re from Texas or not, when you think of our great state, you think western. Cowboys. Shoot ‘em ups. The cattle drive. Ranchers. The old west. If you aren’t careful, you might even think Tombstone was based in a Texas town.

Our client Tippit Dental Group loves the old west and the history of Texas. This month was rodeo month in Houston, or at least it was for a little while here. Few things go together better than Texas and the rodeo. So we created a Texas-style rodeo skills contest we dubbed “The Next Great American Cowboy or Cowgirl.” Here’s how we did it:

FORMULATING THE PLAN

We chose three specific skills tests for each contestant: roping, tying, and shooting. Each contestant had 2-minutes to rope a plastic bull, 1-minute to tie a Cowboy Bowline, and 30-seconds to shoot five aluminum cans with a Daisy Red Ryder BB-Gun.

We anticipated a few of the team members to compete. We were excited to know that all six were planning to compete.

Each contestant wore cowboy or cowgirl attire to create a sense of authenticity. Cooperation makes the best collaboration.

GETTING THE RIGHT SHOTS

We stayed at the Tippit ranch in Bellville the night before recording the show, thanks to the man himself, Dr. Tip Tippit. We took some sunset shots at the ranch that came out beautifully.

Then we rose early in the morning (alarms went off at 5 am) and headed about 45 minutes out to Independence, Texas. We cannot express how beautiful this place was. Bluebonnets and Indian PaintBrush were everywhere. The grass was the perfect shade of green. There were birds chirping in practically every tree. And it was slightly overcast, which made it perfect for shooting.

There was a nice green field with wildflowers and ferns that made for a great open shot. There was also the ruins of an old kitchen with stone walls. Adjacent to our main shooting area was another large open field surrounded by a wooden fence. Lastly, we had several great shots around the old low hanging oak trees.

We conducted the main shoot in and around Cole’s Cabin, which is part of Old Baylor Park and maintained by the Independence Historical Society. We have to give a big thanks to Peggy over at the Baylor Libraries for all her help.

THE SKILLS CONTEST

Our shoot was held behind the Tippit Dental Group Brenham office where there was plenty of room to conduct the rodeo skills tests, as well as have two cameras rolling. We made sure that everyone knew the rules before moving forward. We also made sure to keep things light enough to where everyone tried hard, but didn’t take it overly seriously.

The goal behind every piece of marketing and branding material we put together for clients is to make sure the team enjoys what they’re doing.

CAMERA QUALITY: BLACKMAGIC AND IPHONES

The difference in the cinematography, as you will notice, is that we shot the ranch and Independence, Texas shoots on our Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and the dental office shoots with our office iPhones (we shoot all of our social media videos on iPhones).

The Blackmagic gives us the cinema quality we as filmmakers desire. It is also very easy to use and to get great shots with. We also used our Ronin gimbal for those cinematic shots.

The iPhones allow us to shoot easily and not have to worry about anything other than lighting. When it comes to social media shoots, iPhones are a plus.

PROMOTIONAL PLAN

Since it was coming across like a western TV show, we needed to create trailers and movie posters. So we scheduled teaser trailers to go out before the full trailer. We posted different 15-second teaser trailers on all eight accounts of Tippit Dental Group (4 Facebook and 4 Instagram) the evening before. We placed those in the Stories so they would be gone when the full trailer went live.

At the same time we posted the full trailer on the Brenham accounts, we posted the teaser trailers into the feeds of the other six accounts (3 Facebook and 3 Instagram) and directed those followers to the full trailer.

We allowed for the weekend for as many people to view the trailer, and then we posted several movie posters. We studied old school western movie posters for inspiration and came up with some pretty cool designs.

Now it came down to posting the show. We picked the prime time for social media posts and released it. You can watch it now in its entirety.

"Fight" and "retreat". Those are two words that typically don't go together. But for the Tippit Dental Group, they became the perfect lexical combination.

Our client conducts an annual retreat for its employees, and this year they went with the theme of FIGHT. It is actually an acronym for its company values. After some discussion, we decided on a Rocky theme to match the retreat's name. Lucky for us, this is a company with plenty of humor and is a group always looking to have fun.

Since Rocky is such an American icon, we wanted to play off of one of the most iconic moments of the series: the run. Rocky would be played by Dr. Trey Tippit. This would be a fun and quasi-inspiring way to launch the two-day event.

We planned out the run: time, locations, and specific types of shots. We met with Dr. Trey Tippit very early in the morning (well before the sun came up) to get the shots we wanted and to match the types of runs in the movies. We shot in the neighborhood, near a construction site, through City Centre, and finally in Hermann Park, ending near the Sam Houston statue overlooking the reflection pool. WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW.

The FIGHT Continues

When doing a theme, it isn't enough to just have a video. So we created (upon request) t-shirts and journals (we also created pens, although not theme-centric, they still came out great). We matched the iconic shot from the movie Rocky Balboa (the series' sixth installation). Instead of Sylvester Stallone, we used Dr. Trey Tippit. Instead of Philadelphia, we had Houston. Although two very different individuals and two very different locations, you can definitely see the similarities...and to an extent (at least we like to think so), you almost can't tell the difference. We used the image we created, along with the FIGHT font and the company name, and placed it on the t-shirts. They came out exceptionally well.

The journals also came out really well with the company logo, name, and FIGHT theme impressions. The pens, though not FIGHT-themed, were perfect. The size of the company name and logo fit exactly as we had hoped.

The event turned out great. The owner and the employees loved what most would call "retreat swag." But we would never call it that. We just call it "stuff we do."

Social Media Campaign - Instagram

Harris Martin

California is a booming place for fitness, and with so much competition Harris Martin needed to create a personal brand that would stand out from the crowd. We strategized and planned a campaign launch video using previous workout footage shot with his camera phone, and then orchestrated a shoot on the beach. The beach shoot would be the staple of the social media project. Since we are based in Texas, and he in California, we planned the shoot over the phone.

Once the footage came to us, the editing process began, which included voiceover, soundtrack, graphics, and coloring. All that we discuss below.

Voiceover Scripting & Soundtrack

Harris had already documented helping a few of his clients with their fitness journey, which in turn made for some amazing personalized content. This really draws the viewer into the gravity of what they are watching happen.

Sound played a huge role in conveying the type of emotion that we wanted the viewer to feel. Regarding voiceover work, we scripted a few ideas to get him inspired and he took it from there. We were also able to use the existing cameraphone sound as another dynamic layer to the video, which helped capture the inspirational moments of Harris helping other people.

Setting the tone with cinematic footage

Since Harris lives and works in California, we had to give him a plan for shooting on the beach. This included what time of day to shoot, what kind of cloud cover was ideal, and where the lighting should be in regards to his person. Storyboarding a few shots was key to capturing breathtaking cinematic-style shots. After we reviewed the footage, we knew we needed some establishing shots, and drone footage of the beach would be perfect. As we looked online, we were able to find some great shots of the exact spot were Harris's beach shoot was.

From there the video moves into Harris's beach workout. As the Sun is just cresting over the horizon for a dramatic silhouette with the Santa Monica pier in the background.

As a warm-up Harris begins with stretching and yoga dance moves to kick off the work out and he begins to ramp things up as the video sequence continues. Using some stretch bands and dance moves Harris begins a balance routine that reveals more of the setting of where is including the ocean and the mountains.

In recap, showcasing Harris as a fitness authority was easy. Having him tell his story of how fitness changed his life and how in turn he has made it his mission to help others with their fitness goals was already there. We just had to give Harris a nudge and he ran with it.

We enjoyed every second working with Harris and were blown away by his passion, dedication and inspiration to help and teach others how to conquer their goals in fitness and in life.
